If you read my facebook page on the regular you have probably learned that my life is taking a detour from my body building competition dreams to a place of sleepless nights, sore boobs, and tiny, tiny fingers and toes. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotion and planning as we process this news and start to prepare for our new edition, the #ruralrebelbaby. Part of this processing has included the realization that I will need more help and support when the new baby comes. My husband works away around 50% of each month and it is nearly crazy town here with two toddlers. The prospect of those 50% days with two toddlers and a newborn feels like it may be nearly impossible. I need my family nearer. Luckily for me, they all live in interior BC, a pretty fantastic place to visit, and live.
You may have guessed from my page name that I enjoy my rural life, but the truth is that while we do live in a rural community we are still fairly removed from what I’ve come to define as rural living. Our property is beautiful and our community is quiet, but I find myself longing for land and animals. A garden. Fruit trees. Chickens. Maybe a cow and a couple of mini-goat-lawnmowers. While my husband and I were in the Okanagan for my brother’s wedding last weekend we went house shopping and found one that we love. A home that I felt at home in immediately. A piece of land that will grow with our family while allowing us to grow as well. A place to literally and figuratively put down roots for many years to come. I’m trying to not get too excited as we have a lot of hurdles to jump before we will be able to make this dream a reality but we’ve submitted an offer that the realtor feels will be accepted. (UPDATE: The offer was accepted!)
Now, the fun part. Preparing for sale and a move, while pregnant, hooray!

I feel so grounded and at peace here. Hugs girl, I know how hard the next year will be, but as a fellow mom of three who often does it alone, you will find out that you are even more of a badass than you ever knew.

August 27, 2014Wow such an exciting time for you and your family. I’m visiting my mom right now in Penticton and completely agree. I love visiting the Okanagan. It is so peaceful and beautiful here. I love my morning runs and swims here and would be lying if I said I hadn’t considered coming here permanently. But alas, I love the Kootenays more so that’s where I’ll stay 🙂

August 27, 2014The Kootenays are lovely too Amanda, my husband and I both have family there as well. It will be so nice to be in driving distance (with small people) again! 🙂
